I will tell you of the fun I never had at camp ,because I am too cool to go.
I will tell you of the friendships that are born , and cultivated through an intense and concentrated focus on being a servant of God that I will never have ,because I don’t need anybody…and as I’ve already said , I’m too cool to go. I will tell you nothing of the unassuming kid who becomes the camp hero by being himself and not trying to be something acceptable by the world , because at camp – everybody is cool. I will tell you of the bond that is created between counselors and campers that could never really exist , after all how could anybody really love a bunch of kids that much?…Not that I care because …well .. you already know – I’m too cool for camp.
I will tell you how everyone will never know how bad I really wanted to go ,but was too cool to tell anyone…and this letter will never be sent.
This would have been the letter I would have written when I was 12…. I can’t describe in this little box how thankful I am that this will NEVER be the letter that my kids write.
No one is too cool for camp , no one…But everyone is better for going , yes everyone.
Camp is good…no , it’s better than that.
